What does Certified Renewed mean?

Certified renewed means that the device was owned by someone else previously. Our products have mostly been handled lightly and with care, that is why they are almost as good as new. So why buy a new device and pay the full price, when you can save money and be a responsible consumer by paying Smerno pricing instead. Make the smart choice !. At Smerno, all devices are sold with a carry-in warranty. All our devices undergo rigorous testing. So, rest assured, you will be receiving a premium Apple device in optimal working condition.

What is The Cosmetic Condition-Rating?

Grade A+: means that the device is almost as good as new. If there are any blemishes, it is minimal.

Grade A: means that the device may have some scuffs and nicks on the side or back or other minor signs of previous use.

Grade B+: means the device has scuffs and nicks, but works like a dream and is fully functional.

Do I Need an Account to Place an Order?

Yes, you do need an account with us to purchase, as we need your info for warranty purposes and we will need your contact details and address to ensure the delivery of your order.

To register as a customer, go to the Smerno home page at the top right side and create an account. We’ll need your full name, e-mail address, a password of 5 characters, your gender, and at least one contact number.

What Shipping Methods Are Available?

Items bought on the site will be delivered nationally by our delivery partner, The Courier Guy.

How Long Will it Take To Get My Order?

Shipping the purchase to you can take between 3 – 4 business days in the main centers. Outlying areas may require an additional day or two for delivery. If you experience a delay in receiving your order, please contact your store immediately and we will help to confirm the delivery status of your order.

How Do I Track My Order?

On the top of our home page, “Track Your Order” you will need your Order ID and email address to track your purchase. Our Courier partner will be making contact with you to arrange your delivery.

How do I cancel the purchase of items before I make payment?

Select and view your shopping cart. On the left selecting the cross will remove the item from your basket. You can from the basket continue viewing products or proceed to checkout. 

What are the payment options available?

You can complete your order through our secure payment portal, NetCash, via Credit or Debit Card, Instant EFT, Bank EFT, or Scan To Pay. We also offer a Direct Deposit option to pay for your order. Should you make payment via a Direct Deposit, we will ship your order once the funds clear in our business account.

Why do I need to make payment immediately at checkout?

All products available on the site are offered on a first-come-first-served basis and remain available until the item is paid for. To ensure that you get your desired product, it is recommended that you make your payment within 60 minutes of checking out.

Can I Pay Cash?

Yes, if you purchase in-store at any of our retail stores. 

What is The Warranty Period For Certified Renewed Products

Smerno Stores offer a 6-Month Carry-in Warranty on all Certified Renewed Products sold. The warranty applies to the functionality of the device. To ensure the warranty is not voided you need to take care not to remove the warranty seal on the device. The warranty does not cover liquid damage or physical damage to the device.

Where do I find my purchase warranty?

Your warranty document is your purchase receipt. Please keep this receipt for the entirety of the 6-months warranty period. Please contact your store listed in the unlikely event that the device malfunctions. 

What happens if my purchase arrives damaged or is lost in transit?

We take such matters very seriously and will look into each case thoroughly. In the rare instances that a parcel is damaged or lost, please note the following;

  • 1. In the event of a damaged product received, we will require photographic proof of the affected product and any damages to the packaging it arrived in. The pictures together with a copy of your D.O (Delivery Order) should be attached to Log a Return form within 48 hours of delivery for us to investigate and review before a decision can be made to re-send a replacement device to you at no cost, subject to availability.
  • 2. In the event of a lost parcel, please email us a copy of your order to investigate. We will make contact with our service provider and re-send the order to you at no cost, subject to availability.

We regret to inform you that no refunds will be done for orders that fall under these categories until a claim has been settled with our delivery service provider.

What happens if I need to return the purchase within the 7 day return period?

  • Should you wish to return your purchase within the 7- day return period, please notify us by completing Log a Return.
  • Include your order number and reason for the return in the comments section. Kindly note any courier charges incurred for the return of your purchase will be at your own cost. Once we have received the returned order and we are happy with the condition we will refund you.

Can I return a product without accessories?

Unfortunately not – the complete product has to be returned. This means that if a MacBook is not working, the charger needs to be returned as well, as it would need to be tested with the MacBook once fixed.

My iPhone battery isn't charging or doesn't last long enough do i need to have the battery replaced?

There are a few factors that need to be considered before deciding to replace the battery

  • Firstly, if the charging is intermittent there could be debris in the charging port. This could be a result of fluff from your inside pocket getting stuck in the charging port. This could prevent the charging cable from making proper contact resulting in intermittent charging. To remove the “fluff” use a wooden toothpick and scrape the inside of the charging port.
  • Secondly, you may have a defective charging cable, if you have a spare charging cable, try the spare cable.
  • To check the iPhone Battery Health, select Settings> Battery>Battery Health, the Maximum Capacity percentage should be about 85% to ensure optimal charging capacity. If the message “Service” appears in this setting, you need to have the battery replaced.
  • If the device was subject to liquid damage it is possible that electronics may have been compromised.
  • If the above suggestions have not resolved the problem, book the device in with us. We will gladly assist you in getting this resolved.
  • Word of caution, should you avoid changing a battery when it needs replacement, can lead to extensive damage should the battery starts to swell and damage the interior electronics and the LCD.
